Cinnamon Ferns

Native cinnamon ferns (Osmundastrum cinnamomeum) put on a spectacular display at the water's edge. They thrive in shaded, moist, boggy ground along streams and wetlands but can also survive in full sun if they're growing in water.


The erect, central spike is the fertile spore-bearing part of the plant, full of fruit capsules, which are easily seen in the detailed pic below.
